Explanations of Class Levels
| Class Level | Description |
| Beginners | A class suitable for complete beginners; the pace will be very slow to start with, but after the 6-weeks foundation, gradually more exercises will be introduced. Stronger clients will be able to cope with an occasional Beginners Plus class. |
| Beginners Plus | It is assumed that clients have done at least the foundation course, either with me or elsewhere. Also suitable for those who don't necessarily want to progress to a much more challenging Intermediate level, but are happy to keep to a routine, which may occasionally be challenging, but whose main purpose is to keep clients flexible and toned up. |
| Back care / Mobility | Class at Beginners Plus or Intermediate level for some exercises, but avoiding the most common triggers for back pain (eg not much flexion, no extreme extension) and more stretching than in other classes. The emphasis is on mobility and flexibility rather than performance Pilates. Particularly suitable for people with history of back pain and more mature clients. |
| Lower Intermediate | Gradually introducing more and more challenging Intermediate exercises. It is assumed the client is comfortable with all basic principles of Pilates, like Alignment, Centering, "Stabilise before you Mobilise", Control over their movement and Breath, and that he/she has developed good core stability and body awareness to enable them to exercise safely. Clients are expected to be familiar with such exercises as eg: Hundreds, Single Leg Stretch, Double Leg Stretch, Torpedo, Cobra etc. |
| Intermediate | Introducing more and more Intermediate/Advanced exercises and a faster pace to keep the flow. Clients should be familiar with all Intermediate exercises and be sufficiently body aware to take responsibility for more challenging exercises, particularly if they have had injury. It is indented to keep this class as fairly advanced and follow the classical Pilates format and order. On top of the exercises mentioned above, the clients should know Scissors, Side Kick series, Open Leg Rocker, Criss Cross etc, full Roll-ups. |
